Fourth-Place Finish at Sonoma for Gustavo Yacamán

SONOMA, Calif. (August 23, 2010) – Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing and driver Gustavo Yacamán had another strong road course finish at Infineon Raceway Sunday afternoon, Round 10 of 13 of Firestone Indy Lights. The fourth-place finish was the team’s second-best finish of the season.

After qualifying the No. 10 machine fourth a day earlier, Yacamán was able to hold off the hard-charging Dan Clarke in the No. 40 in the final laps of the race. In what could be considered the best battle on the race track, Yacamán and Clarke swapped position on Lap 33, but Yacaman quickly retook the spot and was able to pull away and hold on till the end.

It was an eventful race as a pair of incidents brought out the caution flags and bunched up the fields in the opening laps and also at the halfway point. Yacamán had great restarts each time and was able to maintain his position and put some distance between himself and the cars behind him.

“It was a challenging race,” Yacaman said. “We weren’t far off the pace, and I drove the wheels off the car. It was a bit frustrating at the start, as I felt some of the drivers in front of me were playing chess to help each other. But oh well, that’s racing. We had a solid fourth-place finish, which is good for the points. Now I am going to get ready to turn left….a lot.”

It was a good points day for Yacamán as his fourth-place finish moved him up one spot to eighth, and he is currently tied with Stefan Wilson, who is seventh (178 points). Yacamán is only seven points behind sixth-place Dan Clarke (171 points).

With all road and street course events now completed, only three oval events remain on the Firestone Indy Lights schedule. Next up is Round 11 in less than a week at Chicagoland Speedway, August 27-28. The race is scheduled to go green Saturday, August 28 at 5:15 p.m. ET (4:15 pm CT). Tickets can be purchased at www.chicagolandspeedway.com. The event can be seen live on www.indycar.com.

The Colombian Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacamán is supported by CREPES & WAFFLES, MAC BATTERIES, TUVACOL, SSANGYONG, GASES DE OCCIDENTE, SIESA, CINE COLOMBIA, COEXITO and ALCALDIA DE CALI.
