Windy City the Next Stop for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (August 26, 2010) – After a fourth-place finish last Sunday at Infineon Raceway, Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing and driver Gustavo Yacamán have little time to recharge before this Saturday’s race at Chicagoland Speedway, Round 11 of 13 of Firestone Indy Lights.
The 67-lap race will be the first oval event for Firestone Indy Lights since June. This will be Yacamán’s first Firestone Indy Lights start at Chicagoland. As a rookie in 2009, he was unable to compete in last year’s event due to a back injury sustained at Infineon Raceway the weekend prior.
“Chicagoland for me is a mystery,” the young Colombian said. “It is the only track this season that I have never been to. I’m not worried about it though. It’s a mile and a half, and it’s flat out from Lap 1. Ovals are all about how good the car is, and I am sure we are going to be just fine.”
Yacamán is currently eighth in points, and tied with Stefan Wilson, who is seventh (178 points). Yacamán is only seven points behind sixth-place Dan Clarke (171 points). A good finish at Chicagoland Speedway could move him up in the point standings. Only two races remain following this weekend’s race, Kentucky and Homestead.
First practice is Friday, August 27th at 2:30 p.m. CT (3:30 p.m. ET). The team will practice again on Saturday, August 28th at 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET), with qualifying at 1 p.m. CT (2 p.m. ET). The race is scheduled to go green at 4:15 pm CT (5:15 p.m. ET).
Tickets can be purchased at www.chicagolandspeedway.com. The event can be seen live on www.indycar.com. In addition to the IZOD Indy Car Series, the Firestone Indy Lights series will share the stage with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Prior to the race, Yacamán will be competing against fellow Firestone Indy Lights driver Philip Major in a pit stop challenge on Thursday, August 26th at Woodfield Mall. Admire Life are encouraged to come by to meet and support their favorite drivers. The pit stop challenges start at 4 p.m. CT, with Yacamán scheduled to compete at 5:30 p.m.
The Colombian Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacamán is supported by CREPES & WAFFLES, MAC BATTERIES, TUVACOL, SSANGYONG, GASES DE OCCIDENTE, SIESA, CINE COLOMBIA, COEXITO and ALCALDIA DE CALI.
